This page contains brief information about ESJUG in English for international visitors. For detailed information, please contact us (see below).
Location and activity area:
The Espírito Santo Java User Group is the only JUG of Espírito Santo state, in Brazil. It was founded in november 2004 and aims at promoting Java at the whole state. Espírito Santo is a small state on the southeast region of Brazil, just north of Rio de Janeiro and south of Bahia. The ESJUG is based on Vitória, the capital of the state.
JUG Web Site:
The ESJUG has a website based on java.net and is looking for volunteers to develop and manage the contents of an independent website. If you have the skills and time to do it, please contact us at coordenacao@esjug.dev.java.net.
In the java.net hosted website, we have mailing lists, a CVS to manage the JUGs web pages, a membership system to give control to JUG leaders and an upload are where we share documents such as presentations, meeting notes, etc.
Mailing lists and forums:
We have three public mailing lists:
- esjug@esjug.dev.java.net: the main list. All people interested in Java in the state of Espírito Santo are invited to join this list to discuss, make questions, answer questions, exchange information, etc., as long as it is related to Java. General announcements are also made on the list;
- eventos@esjug.dev.java.net: this is a moderated list. People interested only in receiving announcements about events and activities should join this list;
- grupodeestudos@esjug.dev.java.net: this is the study group mailing list. People involved in any study group can use this list to set up group meetings, share material about the subject that is being studied, etc.
Brazilian Portuguese is spoken on all lists. International visitors interested in contacting us should email coordenacao@esjug.dev.java.net.

One of the objectives of the JUG is to promote monthly regional meetings and an yearly Java event for the whole state. We managed to organizer Java events in 2005 and 2007. Monthly meetings were promoted also in 2005 and resumed in 2009.
